Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple majestically perches on a 70-meter-high cliff, dramatically protruding above the Indonesian Ocean. Visiting this iconic temple is the highlight of our Uluwatu Tours. Hundreds of playful monkeys roam freely along the pathways outside the temple, inhabiting a small forest at its front. These monkeys are believed to guard the sacred grounds from negative influences. A winding, serpentine pathway fortified by concrete walls hugs the cliffside, leading to the temple. The stroll takes about an hour, with several fenced viewpoints offering remarkable vistas of the ocean horizon and the powerful waves crashing against the rocks below.

Kecak and Fire Dance Performance

The Kecak and Fire Dance is a spectacular traditional performance, narrating fragments from the Ramayana, the revered Hindu epic. This captivating dance is often held near Uluwatu Temple and is a highlight of our Uluwatu Tours. What makes the Kecak dance unique is its accompanying music, entirely provided by human voices—a "gamelan suara." A choir of fifty to a hundred men or more sits in concentric circles, swaying, standing, and even lying prone as the dramatic story unfolds. Amidst the rhythmic chants of the swaying masses, the storytellers' voices can be heard, vividly recounting the unfolding tale. The mesmerizing music is purely generated from the combined acapella sounds of the "cak" members.
